One of the greatest of all time. I put " Do You Feel Like We Do " right there with stairway to heaven as one of the greatest rock songs ever written with 3 of the best solos ever played. I saw Peter just after the live album came out. He was 2nd bill to seals and croft. Rod Stewart and the faces were on a farewell tour. When the song started everyone went nuts. Peter seems like such a nice human.

I met Joe Pass in the fall of 75 at Stop 8 on the Danforth in Toronto. I was just a kid, Joe was there promoting something for the store. I was a bass player in a Hendrix band in one of the small rehearsal spaces downstairs. Anyway, there were only about 5 of us watching Joe play in the store. He was phenomenal making it look so easy playing chords and doing the melody at the same time. Something to remember.

Mutual respect: the world needs more of it. Many thanks for posting this clip. Peter Frampton is a maestro on his guitar and to share insights into his history of playing is a privilege. It is appropriate that he came via a band called Humble Pie ….. he shows his talent and his graciousness, here. So nice that the questions show such musical knowledge, also. This is a great interview. 😎👍🇳🇿🎸😊

That was an incredible interview Rick. I am about to turn 62, and when the live album came out I was a junior or senior in high school. I had it on vinyl of course and maybe 8 track in my first car , a 71 army grey Corolla. the first thing I did was put what I thought at the time was a kick ass stereo with an 8 track player, it was just before cassettes. Pioneer at the time was great car audio. but I wore the album and the 8 track out, it was an album that shaped my taste in music, and I actually got to see Him live in Oakland California, Day on the Green, 1977 with Lynyrd Skynyrd, and the Outlaws. Again, thank you for sharing.

Great interview Rick. We are so over the usual morning tv interviews that are shallow and unresearched. I would love to see you interview Eric Clapton about his music and technique. 99% of his interviewers just ask about the drugs and women.

Rick, I am looking at the background of Peter, ant it so reminds me of my uncle's 8-track 2inch tape deck in his studio in greenwich village. I wonder if ended up with him after he died in 89 and the studio was sold off.

So good. One question I was dying for you to ask tho! The Midnight Special performance. Rare - live - and he tore the place down - only for some reason - that show always had people just sitting there. His looks to the camera were priceless. Just wondered what he remembered of it and what his experience of performing there was

Thanks for this wonderful interview (and for all your great videos) I have to say I was never a Peter Frampton fan, but a few years ago I was lucky enough to see him perform at The Roundhouse in London and it blew me away! He played solidly for about 2 hours. But what I remember from that night mainly is how much of a humble and interesting character Peter seemed. Your interview proves I was not mistaken. I'm only guessing here, but I guess you deliberately avoided asking about the Bowie/Frampton connection? It's probably a subject he is asked about all the time. Anyway, here's a wee bit of early history between them for anyone who doesn't know. Despite Bowie being more than three years older than Peter Frampton, the two struck up a friendship as youngsters. Both attended Bromley Technical High School, where Frampton’s dad was Bowie’s art teacher. The two shared a unique bond over music, and remained close friends until Bowie’s death. "He really introduced me, along with George Underwood, to Buddy Holly and Eddie Cochran, people I wasn't aware of at that age," Frampton once said of his childhood friend. The two would collaborate a number of times over the years. Also a pupil later on was Hanif Kureshi author of Buddha of Suburbia, which was adapted for a mini series for which Bowie wrote the soundtrack. A very underestimated album imho.

Saw Frampton playing with Humble Pie when they were promoting "Rock On" in 1971. They were opening for "Ten Years After". It was my first concert. We downed a lot of acid (my first time). Still favorite concert and LP. Been a Frampton guy since.

One question I would've liked to have answered was how much touching up did they do on Frampton comes alive. It's so good that I'm sure they had to touch up here and there. Like kiss alive. Comes down to how live is the album basically. In 1976 my sister got the album and what she used to do was put tinfoil on inside of album gatefold and open it. She'd lay out in the sun and tan her face. Every day in the summer. I still have the album to this day.

That was a great interview, and the reason why is there was a true connection between two musicians that came through. I also fell for the guitar in 76' the same age as you Rick, I never achieved a great level of success with the guitar but am trying again late in life. I was fortunate enough to see Peter on his 35th Anniversary tour and it brought tears of joy to my eyes. Thank you for such great videos.

I had never heard of Peter Frampton a couple of years ago. Going through a really tough time in life, I was at a serious point of breaking badly. Sitting in my car, lost, and "Do you feel like we do?" comes on the radio (he was coming to town and being promoted), I crank it, blown away, crying, it pulled me out of that dark dark place.

Saw Frampton 2 X back in high school! I'm 58 and of all the people seen multiple times, Frampton was possibly the only guy I ever saw play every instrument on stage! Annoyingly, He's not only better at his 2nd instrument than I am at my first! I'm used to that but he plays everything better than me! Amazing!
